You must have real guts to eat balut while in Philippines. It is a fertilized egg, boiled and then served as a street food by special vendors – the image of this food is terrifying, a poor baby duck still stocked to the yolk of the inside. They cry all day Baaaluuut, but I especially observed them in the evenings. I must recognize that I want to try everything in general. For Balut in particular I needed few beers ahead and some Chinese girls as cheerleaders, to buy and eat, half of it, on the beach in El Nido. I tried to keep it in my stomach only for half an hour as to say it politely. I will never eat again and I am not proud of doing it. One must know his limits….but you can only know by trying. This is my mantra.
I let the pics say all that words cannot describe. It is a zero star food, but it is impossible to rate it.
